Arkansas Medical Marijuana Sales Hit $45 Million in Two Months.

Arkansans spent nearly $45 million on medical marijuana throughout February and March, according to a report from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

$44.8 million was spent in the last two months, $22.1 million in February and $22.7 million in March.

“The state’s medical marijuana industry will soon reach five years in operation as the first dispensary opened in May 2019,” Department of Finance and Administration spokesperson Scott Hardin said. “Overall, more than $1.10 billion has been spent since that time across the state’s 38 dispensaries. The Arkansas Department of Health reports more than 102,000 active patient cards.”

Hardin says the state collected $4.87 million in tax revenue from medical marijuana sales in February and March and more than $127 million has been generated since the industry launched.

11,681 pounds of medical marijuana were sold in the last two months, bringing the total for the year to 17,240 pounds, according to the report.

Suite 443 in Hot Springs led dispensaries in sales in the two month period with 1,080 pounds sold and Natural Relief Dispensary in Sherwood followed closely behind with 1,067 pounds, the department said.
