Harvesting Incentives and Planting Success with Green Rebates

Starting or expanding a cultivation facility is no small feat. The upfront costs of lighting, HVAC, and dehumidification systems alone can drain a grower’s budget before the first harvest.

But what if there was a way to put cash back into growers’ pockets while making their operations more energy-efficient?

At MJBizCon 2024, Matthew Price, the VP of Operations at Green Rebates, shared insights into how his company is transforming the industry.

“We get growers paid to purchase equipment that is not only sustainable for the environment but produces some of the best product a grower can hope for,” Price explained. This innovative approach involves navigating the complex web of utility incentives to benefit those at the heart of cannabis growth—the growers.

Sustainable Savings

The core of Green Rebates’ mission is to make high-efficiency, sustainable equipment more accessible. “Startup costs are crazy, but we want to make it affordable for anybody,” Price noted.

By liaising with local utilities, they ensure that growers receive cash back for choosing products that lessen the load on the power grid. This supports environmental sustainability while slashing operational costs for growers.

Since its inception, Green Rebates has achieved remarkable milestones:

  • Over $75 million in energy rebates approved: Showing the company’s dedication and expertise in navigating the complex landscape of energy incentives.
  • More than 500 projects completed across 26 states: Demonstrating a broad and impactful reach within the horticulture community.
  • In excess of 500 million kilowatt-hours saved: Highlighting a significant contribution to energy conservation and environmental sustainability.

Showcasing the Impact

During the MJBizCon, Green Rebates highlighted its commitment by offering over $250,000 in free equipment, courtesy of their manufacturing partners.

“We communicate with growers right here on the show floor. We figure out what their needs are, what their long-term goals are for their facility, and we want to make sure they walk with some free equipment,” Price said. This hands-on approach not only educates but also empowers growers, providing them with tangible benefits that can kickstart or expand their operations.

Busting Myths

One of the biggest hurdles Green Rebates faces is disbelief.

“The most common misconception…is that it’s too good to be true,” Price admitted. Yet, with over $75 million in rebates distributed, the reality is undeniable. Growers are often stunned when they see actual checks in hand, realizing the financial support available can truly alter their business trajectory.

For anyone entering or expanding in the cannabis cultivation sector, Price has a clear message:

“Do not purchase equipment until you investigate rebates with Green Rebates.” His advice extends to manufacturers too, urging them to partner with Green Rebates to make their energy-efficient products more affordable, thus mutually beneficial.
