Woman accused of running 2 illegal Marijuana grow houses in Maine

A woman accused of running two illegal marijuana grow facilities in Maine is now facing federal drug charges.

Jiamin Liao, 29, is charged in connection with a grow house in Madison and another in Norridgewock, according to court records.

Police say they found around 600 marijuana plants in the two locations.

She faces up to 20 years in prison if she's convicted.

Statistics show the federal government has raided more than 40 properties since mid-2023.

A leaked federal government memo claimed there are up to 270 large-scale illegal grows in Maine connected to Chinese organized crime.
