Hemp Fest has good turnout for first event

Garrison Hemp Fest featured local and regional cannabis vendors from across the state.

Organizers deemed the first Garrison Hemp Fest a success.

The festival welcomed more than 500 people to Jake Regan Park in Garrison on Aug. 10, said one of the event organizers, Luke McCapes.

The free-to-attend Hemp Fest was a one-day outdoor festival celebrating local food, community engagement and support for the cannabis and hemp industries in Minnesota.

The festival featured local and regional cannabis vendors, educational speakers, art and music. A hemp pancake breakfast community fundraiser was hosted at the Garrison Veterans of Foreign Wars post across the street from the park.

“It was definitely a good turnout; it was very good,” McCapes said. “A lot of good feedback from everybody. In general, a lot of people were just saying thanks for bringing it to the Garrison area so that people could learn. And a lot of good comments about the educators.”

McCapes said with all the positive feedback and comments from the attendees and vendors, he would like to do something similar again in the future.
