K-9s Are Sniffing Out Vape Devices With THC In Ohio Schools

Vapes, especially portable handheld vapes, have exploded in popularity over recent years. And that includes among teens.

As a result, high schools in different parts of the country are starting to take measures to crack down on vaping on school grounds. The most recent example of this comes out of Ohio.

There, a number of schools have started installing and using vape detectors to figure out when students are vaping. Additionally, some schools have taken more extreme measures, bringing in K-9 units to sniff out vapes.

Does Weed Make You Live Longer?

In many ways, the world of cannabis continues to operate in the realms of rumor and hearsay. This is especially true when it comes to the possible medical and health benefits of the plant. And this shouldn’t be surprising. Cannabis prohibition laws have made it very hard to conduct and compile sustained scientific research. The idea that cannabis can extend your life expectancy is one of those topics that could be legend just as easily as it could be fact. So what’s really going on? Does weed make you live longer? Here’s what research shows so far.

Las Vegas Gets Ready To Become The Next Travel Destination For Cannabis-Lovers

When Nevada first legalized recreational cannabis in 2017, it seemed liked Las Vegas was immediately poised to welcome an influx of weed-loving tourists. A museum opened, a number of cannabis-fueled classes began to crop up, and a series of marijuana-themed tours took root. However, public consumption has hit a legal roadblock, with recent Nevada legislation postponing the licensing of consumption lounges for two whole years.

The FDA’s Stance On CBD Is Confusing Consumers

An overwhelming majority of Americans believe CBD products fall under FDA regulations, but those regulations don’t exist.

The cannabis industry has waited all year for the Food and Drug Administration’s official ruling and regulations on products containing cannabidiol, or CBD. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp, which created a loophole for hemp-derived CBD products. Under the legislation, CBD products existed under a gray area where stores could sell them, but no official regulation existed, which is causing consumer confusion.

Questions remain weeks until marijuana legalization in Illinois

Three weeks from now, Illinois will become the 11th state in the nation to allow the use of recreational marijuana. With time running out, there are still a lot of questions about how it will all work.

As early as 6 a.m. on New Years Day, pot and other products, like THC gummies, will be legal to purchase.

“Every time a state goes legal, you really have a flood of new customers, medical professionals because it’s legal weed,” Green Flower Media CEO Max Simon said.”

Anyone who’s 21 or older, with a valid drivers license, will be able to buy cannabis products at state licensed stores.

"The real question will be, what you want to purchase, there’s this whole plethora of legal cannabis products that people are not familiar with,” Simon said.

How Caffeine and Weed Interact

People adore coffee, and most of us are pretty dependant on it.

Coffee is one of the world’s most traded commodities, the most widely used legal psychoactive substance, and its impact on the modern way of life is simply undeniable.

A fresh cup of Joe is a source of flavor and enjoyment, but the core reason why people indulge in coffee is because of the invigorating effects it produces.

The main active ingredient in coffee (found also in the majority of teas and soft drinks) is caffeine, a powerful compound responsible for the energizing sensations we experience.

While caffeine is a strictly stimulating substance, cannabis is considered as both a stimulant and a depressant.

Recreational marijuana sales in Michigan exceed $1.6 million in first 8 days

In the first eight days of legal weed sales, $1.6 million of recreational marijuana was sold at the five retail shops open around the state.

And three of those shops either sold out or had limited supplies of cannabis products.

The sales from Dec.1-8 totaled $1,629,007 and brought in $162,900 from the 10% state excise tax and $107,514 from the 6% state sales tax.

The state House Fiscal Agency has estimated that when the recreational market for marijuana is fully established after 2020, annual sales will approach $949 million, bringing in $94.9 million from the 10% excise tax and $57 million from the 6% sales tax.

Cannabis edibles, extracts and topicals are coming ... eventually

Hundreds of recreational cannabis edibles, extracts and topicals will hit B.C. shelves soon but it’s unclear whether that will be in time to bring Christmas cheer.

Regulations to make those products legal came into effect on Oct. 17, 2019, one year after the federal legalization of dried cannabis, oil and seeds. But producers weren’t immediately able to ship them to the B.C. Cannabis Stores and website, and private stores.

Maine now taking applications for cannabis dispensaries and cultivators

Maine’s recreational cannabis industry shifted into a new gear on Thursday. The state’s Office of Marijuana Policy (OMP) opened up its application process for adult use cannabis sales licenses, and also started accepting applications for the cultivation and manufacture of marijuana.

Applicants have started tearing through the paperwork in the hopes of being among the first applicants. Some of these would-be entrepreneurs have been waiting for years for the chance to start in on bureaucratic process. Further encouraging applicants’ quickness is the fact that business licenses will be awarded on a limited basis in some cities.
