Just because Marijuana is legal doesn't mean it's welcome
We the people, residents of Menominee, Michigan have the LEGAL right to live peacefully and safely in the city free of the invasion, infestation of the onslaught of marijuana drug dealers.
Just because it was made legal in the state of Michigan is by no means acceptable to welcome it and all the immorality into the city.
Marijuana businesses should not be allowed in the city and should be treated just like a strip club, or adult book store and be highly restricted where they are allowed. Their clientele is not the typical general public. No way should there be drug businesses in and near the M&M plaza or along 10th Street. This is a family friendly, family orientated community. We the people in traveling with our families should not have to be confronted with the drug businesses and drug users as we do our family activities such as grocery shopping. If any marijuana businesses are allowed to build in the M&M plaza we’ll take our business elsewhere. We will not drive by or park in sight of a drug business.
The only benefit is to the marijuana business owners, their lawyers, property owners and real estate brokers and of course the drug users themselves. No longer do we feel safe in the city. Some of us can’t get a good night’s sleep anymore. We’ve beefed up the security around our homes and businesses. Some of us even bought guns for protection just in case.
“It makes us sick to our stomach that real estate is bought and used for the sale of drugs or production of it. The drug users are a resourceful lot. When it was illegal they were able to ferret out where to buy it. Even today the black market for drugs operates as effective as ever.
“It’s immoral to lure in out-of-state residents to buy the marijuana and when they travel back to Wisconsin with it where it’s currently illegal this contributes to the out-of-state customers becoming criminals.”
