Nevada County Sheriff's Office: Search warrants at illegal Cannabis grows lead to arrest

Multi-Agency operation targets illegal Cannabis grow in rural Smartsville.

Smartsville - The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, along with the Nevada County Code Enforcement Department, California Fish and Wildlife, and Army National Guard, executed a search warrant at an illegal cannabis grow in the 12000 block of Black Road in the Nevada County side of rural Smartsville.

A 35- year-old Smartsville man, identified as Boaz Attias, was located at the scene of the grow, and arrested for illegal cultivation of cannabis and various fish and game violations pertaining to contamination of a water source.

342 marijuana plants and 17lbs of processed and packaged marijuana were eradicated at the Black Road property according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.

A second search warrant for an illegal cannabis grow at a property near Black Rd, in the 21000 block of Dalzell Road, was served at approximately 10:00 am on June 9. A large illegal grow was located on the property, along with several RV trailers. No suspects were located at the scene, however investigators located and seized two firearms from within one of the trailers at the site.

Over 4,500 illegal marijuana plants were eradicated from the property. Additionally, California Fish and Wildlife officials observed seven fish and game violations at the site. Both cases were referred to Nevada County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
