Licensed dispensaries without storefronts are delivering product from as far away as the Capital Region into Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act of 2021 (MRTA) allows for the delivery of cannabis products, up to 3 ounces of whole flour or 24 grams of concentrate per person per day from authorized vendors. Consumers must be over 21 years old to purchase and receive delivery. Although at least 40 dispensary licenses are expected for Long Island no authorized storefronts have opened its doors to date.

The lack of licensed dispensaries has confused consumers and NYS Government is taking notice. Emergency provisions incorporated into the state budget passed yesterday called for heightened law enforcement initiatives to crack down on illegal pot shops, forecasting large-scale takedowns of illicit operations.

In the meantime, licensed dispensaries without storefronts are delivering product from as far away as the Capital Region into Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
