Marijuana products recalled in Arizona for potential fungus contamination

The Arizona Department of Health Services announced Tuesday that several establishments are voluntarily recalling several marijuana products.

The issue is potential exposure to Aspergillus — a fungus that can cause cold-like symptoms such as a cough or shortness of breath.

The recalled products include:

  • Blood Oath cultivated by Potent Planet. Batch number 5726 1079 0361 6347.
  • Mango Sunrise cultivated by Nature’s Wonder Inc. Batch number: 30476.
  • Muddy Waters cultivated by Source One Meds. Batch number: BO3221213H.
  • Jenny Kush and Big Mac cultivated by Deep Root pHarm. Batch numbers JK230116H and BMAC230116H.

The Health Services Department said the above products tested positive for Aspergillus and advises anyone who purchased one of the listed products to discard it and to contact their health care provider if they have already ingested or inhaled it.

"ADHS Lab auditors found a possible Aspergillus contamination during a routine inspection of a marijuana testing laboratory where it was determined that equipment was misused according to the manufacturer," the department said in a statement. "Once ADHS discovered the potential contamination, the establishment involved took immediate action to work with all distribution and retail partners to remove any potentially impacted products."

The Health Services Department noted that it hadn't been notified of any illnesses and that the recall was being done out of an abundance of caution.
