Maui company gets approval for third Medical Cannabis dispensary

DOH announced Tuesday that Pono Life Maui has passed a final on-site inspection for the new retail facility, which is located at 149 Hana Highway in Paia.

“Pono Life Maui’s new dispensary will provide much needed access to patients on Maui,” said Liam Gimon, DOH medical cannabis license program section supervisor, in a statement.

According to DOH officials, Hawaii has a total of 33,540 registered in-state patients, and 2,781 caregivers, as of Oct. 31.

With the approval of this location, there are now a total of 22 licensed medical cannabis retailers owned by eight companies throughout the state. Pono Life Sciences Maui is one of two licensed retailers on Maui; Maui Grown Therapies, which has three locations in Pukalani, Kahului and Lahaina, is the other.
