Snoop Dogg has opened his first Weed dispensary in California
The store’s launch came alongside the release of a new weed line honoring the late Tupac.
Snoop Dogg has launched his first ever licensed weed dispensary in California named S.W.E.D., an acronym for Snoop’s famed phrase ‘Smoke Weed Every Day’.
The store opened up for the first time on July 14 in Los Angeles, “conveniently close” to LAX Airport. The dispensary offers a range of cannabis, edibles, concentrates, and weed-infused creams, baths, and lotions.
“At SWED we offer an unparalleled shopping experience, combining our passion for cannabis with the iconic style of Snoop Dogg,” reads the dispensary’s website.
S.W.E.D. also provides at-home delivery service, according to the website, offering products for “recreational users to medicinal patients”.
To mark the store’s opening, Snoop also announced the launch of a new line of cannabis honouring the late rapper Tupac. “That first blunt sparked a friendship that ran deep,” Snoop said in a statement.
“We’ll always have his music, but this is another way I can bring what was meaningful to 2Pac to his fans,” he added.
The opening of S.W.E.D. comes a year after the music mogul took over Death Row Records and launched an offshoot weed project, Death Row Cannabis. Through the new brand, Snoop unveiled a range of weed products alongside fellow rapper Berner.
In 1996, California became the first state to allow for the medicinal use of cannabis after passing the Compassionate Use Act. In 2016, it also became legal to use cannabis recreationally.
Although cannabis is now legal in California, dispensaries are less common in rural areas of the state, meaning many continue to purchase weed from unlicensed sellers.
