Marijuana Is Linked To An Enhanced ‘Runner’s High’ And Lower Pain During Exercise
Study Suggests Cannabis Enhances Running Experience Despite Slight Speed Reduction.
A recent study from the University of Colorado Boulder suggests that using marijuana before running can enhance the exercise experience.
In the study, 49 runners were surveyed about their runs both with and without cannabis consumption.
Participants experienced increased positive emotions, tranquility, enjoyment, and more symptoms of runner’s high when using cannabis.
Despite running slightly slower after consuming marijuana, with researchers observing that they ran 31 seconds slower per mile, the difference wasn't statistically significant.
Additionally, participants reported lower levels of pain after using cannabis.
The study concludes that acute cannabis use might improve the exercise experience for regular cannabis users.
These findings align with previous research indicating that marijuana users often report a more satisfying workout and engage in more physical activity.
