A bill aims to expand access to medical marijuana after Kentucky lawmakers legalized it last year.

Senate Bill 337 would increase the number of eligible medical conditions from six to 21.

New "qualifying medical condition" include amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, irritable bowel disease, sickle cell disease, cachexia or wasting syndrome, neuropathies, arthritis, fibromyalgia, muscular dystrophy, Huntington's disease, HIV, AIDS, glaucoma, and terminal illnesses, among others.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear recommended adding more conditions in January and said it would expand medical marijuana access to 437,000 more Kentuckians.

Still, medical marijuana isn't legal in Kentucky yet. The law, passed last year, takes effect Jan. 1, 2025.

Senate Bill 337 was filed Friday by Republican Sen. Stephen West. The bill is still in committee.
