Green Wednesday Sees Over $9 Million in Cannabis Sales
Green Wednesday 2023 has seen a total of $9,209,061 in recreational cannabis sales – marking an 18,12% increase compared to 2022, which saw sales of $7,795,803.
Green Wednesday is the cannabis industry’s equivalent of Black Friday, seeing an increase in footfall in cannabis retail stores as customers aim to find a bargain.
Jane Technologies has collected sales data for Green Wednesday 2023, finding that when removing company growth, total recreational sales still showed an 11.43% increase when compared to 2022.
The data also revealed that total recreational sales on Green Wednesday 2023 were up 90.5% when compared to the average total recreational sales of the preceding three Wednesdays, which amounted to $4,833,890.74.
Top selling products on the day included flower at $3,352,845.91 in sales, vape products at $2,533,166.62, edibles ar $1,207,840.33, pre-rolls at $963,026.92 and extracts at $448,520.89.
Jane Technologies has also provided a state-level breakdown of sales figures, revealing the top five states with the highest recreational sales were Illinois at $2,868,215.31, California at $1,084,388.39, New Jersey at $880,127.66, Maryland at $758,727.23 and Washington at $709,599.95.
However, there was a different picture for medical cannabis sales on Green Wednesday 2023. In a Year over Year total sales comparison, Jane Technologies found that total medical sales on Green Wednesday 2023 were $8,166,102.75 – an 11.1% decrease compared to the 2022 Green Wednesday medical sales of $9,191,493.38.
When removing customer growth, Jane Technologies stated that total medical sales on Green Wednesday 2023 showed a 2.4% decrease when compared to Green Wednesday 2022.
However, total medical sales on Green Wednesday 2023 were up 84.1% when compared to the average total sales of $4,435,026.54 on the preceding three Wednesdays.
The data shows that the top five states with the highest medical sales included Pennsylvania at $2,577,176.05, Florida at $1,229,439.36, Ohio at $756,845.71, Maryland at $585,176.82 and Virginia at $561,534.87.
