Dwyane Wade celebrates NBA hall of fame induction with Cannabis drop

The newly-minted NBA Hall-of-Famer Dwyane Wade just dropped a limited-edition cannabis product with Jeeter, the top-selling preroll brand in the country, to commemorate the occasion.

Wade was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 12, 2023. The NBA player brought his father up on stage when accepting the orange jacket and award. Wade even gave a touching shout-out to Allen Iversen. To coincide with the noteworthy celebration, Wade announced to his fans an exclusive Jeeter box containing three infused joints called Jeeter Baby Cannons in the center.

“Hall of Flame celebrates this milestone and is a salute to who I was as a basketball player, who I am today, and who I will become,” says Wade. The orange-and-gold weed package is aptly named ‘Hall of Flame’ and it will be on dispensary shelves for consumers beginning on Saturday, August 19th, 2023.

The Hall of Flame box will be available to adults in three legal weed markets: California, Arizona, and Michigan. The cost is $80 MSRP and the box mimics a basketball in a full-grain faux leather design. There will be 15 boxes signed personally by Wade available across three dispensaries for the first 5 customers on its launch day. Those three retailers are Purple Lotus in San Jose, Wellgreens Cares in San Diego, and Curaleaf in Scottsdale.

“I am excited to team up with Jeeter to personalize my own Hall of Fame collection,” says Wade, who sits on the board for the cannabis brand, owned by parent company Dreamfields Inc. Wade joined the brand’s board in 2021 but became friends with the co-founders Lukasz Tracz and Sebastian Solano back in 2019. They also collaborated on a DWYANE cannabis pre-roll box that paid homage to the cover of the basketball star’s photo memoir by the same name.

“He is very much deserving of the Hall of Fame recognition and getting to create three signature pre-rolls alongside Dwyane again is always a pleasure,” say Jeeter Co-Founders and Co-CEOs, Sebastian Solano and Lukasz Tracz in a collective statement. Even more so when we have a chance like this to show how much we admire him.”

2023 welcomed movement from the NBA in regard to its stance on cannabis for players. The Association signaled a major relief to basketball players who want to invest or work with CBD or cannabis companies and stated the NBA would no longer penalize players who test positive for cannabis. The founder of his own cannabis company Viola, Al Harrington once told GQ he estimates that 85% of players smoke or use cannabis.

“We went with the basketball material,” Wade says to his 20.2 million followers on Instagram in an unboxing. “Beautiful number 3 with the flames, you know how we do. I’ve signed this for certain people to get autographed copies. On each side is a locker, in the middle sits the three trophies with some of my favorite flavors.”

Each Jeeter Baby Cannon joint contains 1.3 grams of indoor-grown flower infused with live resin and a custom ceramic filter. Curated by Wade, the pre-rolls will highlight three tropical flavors to symbolize the legendary point guard’s three championship rings. Flavors are Wade Rozay, a fruity-meets-floral hybrid cultivar; Red Punch, a Sativa-leaning strain with tropical notes of citrus; and Flashberry Indica with sweet flavor profile notes of Raspberry Jelly doughnut.

Jeeter settled a lawsuit earlier this year on differentiating THC percentages. In Centeno et al. v. Dreamfields Brands Inc. et al., the case was effectively dismissed via demurrer. “Defendants moved to dismiss the case, however, yesterday the Court held that all of our core claims were sufficiently pled,” says a marketing representative for the law offices of Dovel and Luner, LLP.
