All 50 States Ranked By The Cost Of Weed (Hint: Oregon Wins)

They warned us this would happen. The states where recreational marijuana use is legal are also the states where marijuana is least expensive. The price of an ounce of weed ranges so widely from state to state that someone who smokes an ounce a month can move from Pittsburgh to Portland, Ore., and save enough money for a year’s worth of premium cable, the perfect companion for your habit.

These 7 Children Have Died Waiting for Access to Medical marijuana

Losing a child is the worst nightmare any parent could imagine, a nightmare that is much harder to bear when you know that there may have been something you could have done to prevent such an awful tragedy. As unimaginable as this scenario is for most parents, preventable deaths are happening at an alarming rate as politicians argue about whether or not marijuana is medicine (we did some checking, it is). At this crucial time in history, a moment when the science on medical marijuana has become crystal clear, our government leaders can no longer afford to move slowly on reform measures. The lives of our children depend on this.

Watch: How Black Farmers Are Getting Left Out Of The Medical Marijuana Industry

A provision of a Florida medical marijuana law has caused much controversy among black farmers in the state who say it’s shutting them out of the potentially lucrative industry. This group has now taken their fight to the Florida legislature in the hopes of passing an amendment that takes the regulation out of the bill.

Florida: Medical marijuana defense winning some cases, users walking free

Some Floridians using medical marijuana are getting away with it, others think they are. Using medical marijuana is still not legal in Florida, but some attorneys have found a way to sway a jury.

If you get caught growing marijuana or in possession of it, you can be arrested. But in some cases, defendants proving a severe medical necessity have been able to walk free.

The thought of giving his suffering 9-year-old medical marijuana to treat her constant seizure attacks has crossed Seth Hyman's mind.

Obituary for Florida Man: He would be alive today if medical marijuana was legal

Diana Holland got a call from her son, Jonmarc, on a Tuesday in early April. It would be the last time she would hear from him.

"I can't deal with all these problems," Diana Holland recalled her 27-year-old son saying. "I'm just exhausted dealing with all my problems. The pain is just driving me crazy."

"He said, 'Mom, I'm going to go lay down now.' And that's what he did," she said.

She tried to call back, but got no answer.

Three days later, Leon County Sheriff's deputies found his body in a small ravine in a patch of woods next to the family's North Tallahassee home after he'd taken his life April 7.

Medical marijuana campaign relaunches after Florida House ends lawmaking session

The abrupt conclusion Tuesday to the Florida House's legislative session meant the end of the line for scores of bills that have yet to pass the chamber, including a long-shot proposal to legalize medical marijuana.

Jumping on news that the House had adjourned three days ahead of schedule, medical pot advocates declared the re-launch of their political campaign to get a constitutional amendment on the 2016 Florida ballot.

"Despite courageous leadership from Senators and Representatives in both houses and both parties, Tallahassee has failed us again," United for Care campaign manager Ben Pollara said in a statement. "Medical marijuana will be on the ballot in 2016 and the voters will pass what the legislature failed to."

Medical Marijuana Reform Dying in Florida

The clock for Florida is finally running down, and unless a miracle happens by Friday, it looks like the voters will get the last say on the issue of medical marijuana. With only a handful of days left in the legislative session, there is little hope of any marijuana bill passing the legislature; although, Republican Sen. Rob Bradley still remains hopeful.

“I promised those families that I would fight to the end, and we still have a few days left in session,” Bradley told the Tampa Bay Times. “I’m going to continue to try to find any avenue to make sure we deliver on that promise we made to them last year.”
