Recreational Cannabis Use and Traditional Chinese Medicine

Many people are drawn to cannabis for its effects physically, mentally and emotionally. Medically, cannabis has some legitimate uses, however the scope of this article is limited to the recreational use of cannabis. The following is distilled from a lecture given by Marco Lam of Boulder, Colo.

Cannabis has a lot of side effects and problems with overuse, though most users choose to ignore these problems due to its psychedelic effects. While I am not a fan of the recreational use of any drug, it is not helpful to attack a patient's choice from the get-go, rather, I must create a context for patients on how cannabis impacts their health. To do that, we must go back to the principles of Chinese medicine.

The Cannabis Patch Production Begins in Aspen

Ganjaprenuer Josh Meacham can finally say he’s found a sweet spot to make his pot patches.

Meacham began production this week of the cannabis-infused patches at his lablike facility below the now-defunct Johnny McGuire’s Deli at 730 E. Cooper Ave.

RX Green is the name of the startup company with just a handful of employees. And it’s been awhile in the making.

At one time, Meacham had planned to manufacture the patches at the old Poppies Bistro Cafe building at 834 W. Hallam St., but that deal fell through, leading him to find a spot in the Buckhorn Arms building.

Marijuana Legalization: Colorado Will Defend Pot Bill Against Lawsuit From Oklahoma And ...

Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman announced Friday that the state will defend its legalization of marijuana for sale medicinally and recreationally against a lawsuit filed by the attorneys general of Nebraska and Oklahoma. Friday was the final day for Colorado to respond to the lawsuit, which alleged its voter-backed legalization initiative, Amendment 64, has sent a wave of uncontrolled cannabis across the two states’ borders since becoming law in 2012.

Colorado officials defend marijuana legalization at U.S. Supreme Court

Robert Grandt works in the grow room at 3D Cannabis Center in Denver on March 11, 2015.

Arguing that two neighboring states are dangerously attempting "to selectively manipulate Colorado's marijuana laws," state Attorney General Cynthia Coffman on Friday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to reject a landmark lawsuit filed by Nebraska and Oklahoma over marijuana legalization.

The lawsuit seeks to strike down Colorado's licensing of recreational marijuana stores. Nebraska and Oklahoma officials argue that the stores have caused a flood of marijuana into their states, stretching their law enforcement agencies thin and threatening their sovereignty.

Denver cracks down on marijuana warehouses

Landon Riddle, 5, who has leukemia and uses medical marijuana to treat it, plays in a warehouse where medical caregivers grow marijuana in Denver. Riddle’s mother joined about a dozen activists and caregivers at the facility to discuss adjusting to a Denver City Council decision that bans caregivers from sharing space, which likely could close down warehouses such as this one.

The Denver Fire Department issued 58 permits for warehouses to grow marijuana in nonlicensed facilities last year – marijuana not to be sold in dispensaries. This marijuana was to be grown primarily by caregivers for consumption by medical users or for the grower’s personal use.
