The state approved recreational marijuana five years ago and the ads immediately proliferated, with competing companies boasting homegrown products, free delivery and puns. (“Stop by and say high!”)   That’s in part because federal laws make advertising marijuana illegal on TV and radio.   Detroit is cracking down on billboards near schools, parks, libraries and more, in part because schools are seeing widespread cannabis use in kids.   But Ohio won’t have the billboard problem because the state – where dispensaries were allowed to begin selling to adults aged 21 and older on Aug. 6 – has no plans to allow billboard advertising for pot.   At least one advocate calls the ban an unfair limit on free speech.   [by Cleveland.com](https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2024/12/unlike-michigan-ohio-has-no-plans-to-allow-marijuana-billboards-the-wake-up-for-tuesday-dec-17-2024.html) [Cannabis Business News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/cannabis-business-news) ![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=200&height=200&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) #### [Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) At 420 Intel, we cover cannabis legalization news throughout the world, offer reliable information for cannabis business owners, detail technological advances that impact the marijuana industry, cover marijuana rallies from across the globe, and everything in between. - - - [Cannabis Business News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/cannabis-business-news) [![Cannabis Crisis: Major Company Announces Michigan Exit](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AI-Generated%20Media/Images/The%20image%20depicts%20a%20somber%20interior%20of%20a%20cannabis%20dispensary%20dimly%20lit%20with%20shelves%20lined%20with%20various%20cannabis%20products%20now%20gathering%20dust%20A%20sign%20hangs%20crookedly%20on%20the%20wall%20reading%20Thank%20You%20for%20Your%20Support%20with%20a%20faded%20logo%20of%20TerrAscend%20In%20the%20f-1.jpeg?width=550&height=395&name=The%20image%20depicts%20a%20somber%20interior%20of%20a%20cannabis%20dispensary%20dimly%20lit%20with%20shelves%20lined%20with%20various%20cannabis%20products%20now%20gathering%20dust%20A%20sign%20hangs%20crookedly%20on%20the%20wall%20reading%20Thank%20You%20for%20Your%20Support%20with%20a%20faded%20logo%20of%20TerrAscend%20In%20the%20f-1.jpeg)](https://420intel.com/blog/cannabis-crisis-major-company-announces-michigan-exit) - [![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=80&height=80&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) - 22 July 2025 #### [Cannabis Crisis: Major Company Announces Michigan Exit](https://420intel.com/blog/cannabis-crisis-major-company-announces-michigan-exit) In a significant blow to Michigan’s cannabis industry, TerrAscend, a major North American cannabis...
