Two Arrested After Illegal Marijuana Bust In O'Brien

In a significant operation targeting illegal marijuana activity, law enforcement officers in O’Brien, Oregon, have arrested two individuals following the discovery of a large-scale grow site. The Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team, working alongside the United States Marshals Service, executed a search warrant in the 1,000 block of Arrowhead Drive, uncovering a substantial illegal marijuana cultivation and processing operation.

According to authorities, officers seized approximately 300 marijuana plants and 300 pounds of processed cannabis. All of the illegal marijuana was destroyed on-site as part of the enforcement action. In addition to the cannabis, police also confiscated three firearms from the property, which officials said posed a potential safety threat.

Investigators reported that the property contained numerous electrical, water, and solid waste code violations, common indicators of illegal marijuana operations. These unsafe setups often create fire hazards, contaminate water sources, and pose environmental risks to nearby communities.

Two suspects, identified as Aaron Cletis Johnson and Bi Yun You, were taken into custody. Both now face charges related to unlawful manufacturing and possession of marijuana. Authorities believe the pair were operating a sophisticated illegal marijuana grow site intended for large-scale distribution.

The Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team, known for its ongoing efforts to combat illegal marijuana cultivation in southern Oregon, continues to focus on protecting communities from the negative impacts of black-market cannabis. Since the legalization of recreational marijuana in Oregon, local law enforcement agencies have seen a sharp increase in illegal marijuana grows that operate outside the state’s regulatory system.

Officials say such illegal marijuana operations often exploit workers, damage the environment, and undercut licensed growers who follow the law.

Authorities emphasized that they will continue pursuing those involved in illegal marijuana activities, ensuring compliance with state cannabis laws and environmental regulations. The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office also reminded residents that licensed cultivation is strictly monitored, and anyone engaging in illegal marijuana production faces serious criminal penalties.

The O’Brien bust highlights the growing tension between Oregon’s legal cannabis industry and persistent illegal marijuana operations. As enforcement teams crack down, officials hope to deter future offenders and restore balance to the state’s legitimate marijuana market.
