This boom was largely fueled by a dramatic increase in registered patients, with a nearly 66% rise in patients served in just one month (from 20,127 to 33,384). D.C. residents, non-D.C. patients, and temporary patient registrations all showed significant growth, according to the monthly metrics report released by the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration. This expansion coincides with the closure of many unlicensed shops and the opening of 13 new legal dispensaries in April, bringing the total to 36. However, despite the market’s overall growth, the average revenue, if split equally, per dispensary actually dipped. With more shops splitting the growing pie, individual dispensaries could have seen their average monthly revenue drop by almost $9,000 compared to March. Beyond retail, the market was bolstered by a near 102% increase in manufacturing sales, reaching close to $3 million, driven by new concentrate and edible offerings. While cultivation center sales experienced a nearly 30% decrease, dispensary sales of flower still climbed by almost $1 million. Vapes, edibles, and concentrates all recorded significant sales increases, with April 2025 sales nearly $4 million higher than the same month in 2024. The trend of new openings continues into May, with at least nine more open shops. April in short - Almost a 66% increase in patients served in one month (20,127 to 33,384) - D.C. residents served increased by over 45% ( 11,396  to 16,559  - Non D.C. medical patients increased by over 61% (1,920 to 3,102) - Temporary patient registrations increased by over 98% (7,012 to 13,904) - Dispensary sales increased by over 48% from March ($3,675,887 to  $5,456,393) - Self-certified temporary patients almost doubled in revenue to just under $2 million dollars ($1,093,703 to $1,957,578) - Patients from Virginia increased by over 3,000 and Maryland patients increased by almost 1,000. - Cultivation center sales fell by almost 30% while manufacturing sales increased by nearly 102%.   [by Outlawreport](https://outlawreport.com/d-c-cannabis-sales-hit-record-high-but-individual-dispensaries-could-feel-the-squeeze/)   [Cannabis Business News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/cannabis-business-news) ![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=200&height=200&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) #### [Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) At 420 Intel, we cover cannabis legalization news throughout the world, offer reliable information for cannabis business owners, detail technological advances that impact the marijuana industry, cover marijuana rallies from across the globe, and everything in between. - - - [Recreational Cannabis News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/recreational-cannabis-news) [![6 quick hits of cannabis news from across Michigan](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AI-Generated%20Media/Images/The%20image%20depicts%20a%20vibrant%20and%20bustling%20street%20scene%20in%20Michigan%2c%20showcasing%20a%20modern%20cannabis%20dispensary%20adorned%20with%20colorful%20neon%20lights.jpeg?width=550&height=395&name=The%20image%20depicts%20a%20vibrant%20and%20bustling%20street%20scene%20in%20Michigan%2c%20showcasing%20a%20modern%20cannabis%20dispensary%20adorned%20with%20colorful%20neon%20lights.jpeg)](https://420intel.com/blog/6-quick-hits-of-cannabis-news-from-across-michigan) - [![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=80&height=80&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) - 21 January 2025 #### [6 quick hits of cannabis news from across Michigan](https://420intel.com/blog/6-quick-hits-of-cannabis-news-from-across-michigan) MICHIGAN—Cannabis is a big deal in Michigan—and there’s never a shortage of newsworthy headlines...
