Teen Busted: Selling Drugs & Tobacco to Kids!

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office says an investigation into the illegal sale of drugs and vapes to minors has led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Atoka man, along with the seizure of narcotics and a prohibited firearm accessory.

On August 8, Deputies Zac Wallace and Alex Padezhki followed up on a community tip about possible drug activity. They went to a home on Brittany Lane in Atoka, where they found Mason Brown and several others inside. After receiving consent to search the residence, deputies discovered more than two ounces of marijuana, THC wax, vape products, and a Glock 9mm pistol outfitted with a “switch”—a modification that converts a handgun into a fully automatic weapon. The presence of both drugs and an illegal firearm device raised serious concerns for investigators.

Authorities say Brown admitted to selling marijuana, vapes, and tobacco products to minors. As a result, the teenager faces a long list of charges, including possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a prohibited weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His case highlights the growing problem of minors being exposed to drugs in their own neighborhoods.

He is scheduled to appear in Tipton County General Sessions Court on September 9 before Judge M.O. Eckel. Sheriff Shannon Beasley praised the deputies’ efforts, noting that the discovery of both drugs and a firearm capable of automatic fire could have led to much more dangerous consequences.

“Brown is not even old enough to possess tobacco products, yet he is selling them and marijuana to juveniles,” Beasley said. “To top it off, he was found with a prohibited switch that could make his handgun fully automatic. He needs to make better choices before drugs and crime define his future.”

The sheriff’s office stressed the importance of community involvement in fighting the spread of drugs and illegal activity. Officials said that public tips play a critical role in stopping the flow of narcotics and ensuring the safety of minors.

This arrest serves as a reminder of how quickly drugs can impact not just individuals, but entire communities. From juveniles being targeted as customers to dangerous firearm modifications, law enforcement is urging parents and residents alike to stay alert. As Tipton County officials made clear, vigilance and cooperation are essential in addressing the dangers of drugs in local neighborhoods.
