CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland is set to welcome its first-ever drive-thru cannabis dispensary, bringing a new level of convenience to medical and recreational marijuana users in the city. Story Cannabis, a Phoenix-based cannabis company, has received final design approval for the project from the Cleveland City Planning Commission.
The dispensary will be constructed at 3270 Steelyard Drive, a vacant parcel located on the north side of the Steelyard Commons Shopping Center. The new 2,667-square-foot, single-story facility will be situated across from KeyBank and Panda Express, and next to Clean Express Wash.
Story Cannabis plans to offer both medical and adult-use recreational marijuana products at the new location, making it a dual-use dispensary. One of the most notable features of the upcoming store is its drive-thru lane, designed exclusively for online order pick-up. This setup is expected to streamline the purchasing process for customers who prefer speed and convenience or wish to minimize time spent in-store.
In addition to the drive-thru, the dispensary will include 35 parking spaces, two of which will be ADA-compliant, ensuring accessibility for all customers. Representatives emphasized the importance of ease of access and safety, stating that the design takes into account traffic flow, customer experience, and compliance with city regulations.
This marks the sixth Ohio location for Story Cannabis, which opened its first Cleveland-area dispensary earlier this year on Brookpark Road near Interstate 480. The company continues to expand its presence in the state as demand for cannabis products grows under both medical and recently legalized recreational frameworks.
While this will be the first drive-thru dispensary within Cleveland city limits, it’s not the first in the broader Cuyahoga County. That distinction belongs to CERTIFIED Dispensary, located on Cedar Road in South Euclid, which opened its drive-thru service in August.
The approval of Story Cannabis’s new location is a sign of the evolving cannabis retail landscape in Ohio. As more consumers seek convenient, discreet, and efficient purchasing options, drive-thru dispensaries are emerging as a popular solution. This trend mirrors similar developments in other states where cannabis is legal, especially in response to customer preferences shaped during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Steelyard Commons location is expected to attract a steady flow of customers, benefiting from the area’s high traffic and proximity to major retail outlets. Once complete, the drive-thru dispensary will offer Clevelanders a modern, accessible way to obtain both medical and recreational cannabis products—right from the comfort of their cars.
