NDLEA Bust Plateau Cannabis Farm, Arrests Made

Following actionable intelligence, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Plateau State Command, conducted one of their most daring operations in recent months. In the dark of night, the team moved into Tagbul, a district of Langtang Local Government Area, where a five-hectare cannabis farm had been discovered on the boundary between Plateau and Kaba. This bold action forms part of a series of NDLEA Busts aimed at dismantling the drug trade in the region.

Bit by bit, the officers cleared the illegal farm, uprooting and destroying the cannabis plants before setting them ablaze. This decisive step not only sent a strong message to drug barons but also underscored the agency’s renewed commitment to combating drug cultivation. These NDLEA Busts are increasingly disrupting criminal networks, protecting communities, and restoring confidence in law enforcement efforts.

Briefing journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital, the NDLEA Commander revealed that two suspects linked to the farm had been arrested and are currently under investigation. He reminded the press that in August 2025, the agency uncovered another cannabis farm in Japal, Mangu Local Government Area. That farm measured about three acres—further evidence of the disturbing trend of individuals being drawn into cannabis cultivation for financial gain. With repeated NDLEA Busts, the agency aims to halt this rise before it escalates.

A locally made pistol, a pump-action rifle, and six rounds of live ammunition were also recovered. These developments highlight the connection between drug trafficking and violent crimes a linkage the NDLEA continues to expose through its numerous NDLEA Busts across Nigeria.

The Commander also used the opportunity to urge the general public, especially transport companies, to cooperate with NDLEA operatives during routine checks. Transporters, he warned, must be vigilant about passengers and goods to avoid unwittingly aiding criminal activity. This call aligns with the agency’s ongoing NDLEA Busts to ensure communities remain safe.

Finally, he appealed to the Plateau State Government to fast-track the completion of the rehabilitation and skills acquisition center. Such facilities would complement NDLEA’s limited resources in reintegrating drug-dependent individuals into society—a vital next step after successful NDLEA Busts.

With each operation, the message becomes clearer: the era of unchecked cannabis cultivation and drug trafficking is coming to an end, thanks to relentless NDLEA Busts safeguarding Nigeria’s future.
