The operation, which formed part of a broader crackdown on the illegal drug trade, was aimed at curbing the increasing abuse and trafficking of narcotic substances in the Greater Accra Region. The successful exercise was the result of a coordinated effort led by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), with critical support from key state agencies. These included the Narcotic Control Commission (NACOC), the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Pharmacy Council, and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. Their joint collaboration exemplifies the government's commitment to tackling the illicit drug trade through inter-agency cooperation. In addition to the arrests, the operation led to the seizure of large quantities of opioids—highly potent pain-relieving substances that are often misused for recreational purposes. These drugs, when consumed without medical oversight, can lead to serious health issues including addiction, respiratory problems, and even death. The illegal circulation of such substances poses a significant threat to public health and safety. Furthermore, the team confiscated significant amounts of cannabis and various unregistered pharmaceutical products during the raids. The presence of these substances highlights the vast scope of the illegal drug market in the targeted areas and underscores the importance of such operations in disrupting the supply chain of illicit drugs. The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have indicated that more arrests may follow as intelligence gathering continues. The FDA and its partner agencies have reiterated their firm resolve to intensify surveillance and enforcement efforts across the country in order to safeguard public health and uphold the law regarding controlled substances and pharmaceuticals.   [by Ghanian Times](https://ghanaiantimes.com.gh/15-arrested-in-connection-with-opiod-cannabis-seizure/) [Recreational Cannabis News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/recreational-cannabis-news) ![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=200&height=200&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) #### [Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) At 420 Intel, we cover cannabis legalization news throughout the world, offer reliable information for cannabis business owners, detail technological advances that impact the marijuana industry, cover marijuana rallies from across the globe, and everything in between. - - - [Recreational Cannabis News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/recreational-cannabis-news) [![Major Drug Bust at Lake Poinsett Traffic Stop](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AI-Generated%20Media/Images/The%20image%20depicts%20a%20dark%20quiet%20scene%20near%20Lake%20Poinsett%20with%20a%20sleek%20police%20cruiser%20parked%20beside%20a%20dimly%20lit%20unoccupied%20sportsmans%20club%20The%20vehicles%20flashing%20lights%20cast%20a%20blue%20and%20red%20glow%20against%20the%20buildings%20weathered%20exterior%20In%20the%20foreground.jpeg?width=550&height=395&name=The%20image%20depicts%20a%20dark%20quiet%20scene%20near%20Lake%20Poinsett%20with%20a%20sleek%20police%20cruiser%20parked%20beside%20a%20dimly%20lit%20unoccupied%20sportsmans%20club%20The%20vehicles%20flashing%20lights%20cast%20a%20blue%20and%20red%20glow%20against%20the%20buildings%20weathered%20exterior%20In%20the%20foreground.jpeg)](https://420intel.com/blog/major-drug-bust-at-lake-poinsett-traffic-stop) - [![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=80&height=80&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) - 2 June 2025 #### [Major Drug Bust at Lake Poinsett Traffic Stop](https://420intel.com/blog/major-drug-bust-at-lake-poinsett-traffic-stop) \[KXLG – Lake Poinsett, SD\]  [Cannabis Politics](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/cannabis-politics) [![Cannabis arrests rising as summer season kicks off](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Cannabis%20arrests%20rising%20as%20summer%20season%20kicks%20off.jpg?width=550&height=395&name=Cannabis%20arrests%20rising%20as%20summer%20season%20kicks%20off.jpg)](https://420intel.com/blog/cannabis-arrests-rising-summer-season-kicks) - [Admin](https://420intel.com/blog/author/admin) - 7 March 2024 #### [Cannabis arrests rising as summer season kicks off](https://420intel.com/blog/cannabis-arrests-rising-summer-season-kicks) ## Cases of illegal drug importation are an upward trend, deputy drug squad chief, Stelios Sergides...
