New information from investigators suggests the 19-year-old driver accused of causing the crash may have been impaired, after police say they found a marijuana **vape pen** in his clothing at the scene. The devastating incident has renewed conversations about road safety, impaired driving, and the growing concerns surrounding **vape pen** usage among young drivers. ### **A Community Still Reeling** The deadly collision occurred earlier this week at a notoriously dangerous intersection. Witnesses described the chaos as vehicles collided, one car catching fire and others crushed under the force of impact. Two people tragically lost their lives. The suspect, Jose Gutierrez, was initially released on bail but is now back in custody after prosecutors upgraded the charges to murder. For many in the area, the crash was not surprising. Residents and workers say reckless driving has become common, with some drivers reaching extreme speeds. Several people interviewed at the site shared that they frequently hear screeching tires, near-misses, and racing engines. The incident has brought even more attention to the dangers lurking at this intersection. ### **The Vape Pen Factor** One of the most troubling details emerging from the investigation is the discovery of a marijuana **vape pen** on the suspect. As **vape pen** use rises nationwide, concerns continue to grow about impaired driving linked to them. Unlike traditional smoking, a **vape pen** is small, discreet, and easy to conceal. This has led many drivers especially younger ones to underestimate the impact it can have on judgment and reaction time. Law enforcement officials say impairment from a **vape pen** can be just as dangerous as alcohol or other drugs. The convenience of a **vape pen** has made it more tempting for drivers to use it while behind the wheel, not realizing the severe consequences it can cause. As this tragic crash shows, even a moment of impaired judgment can lead to irreversible devastation. ### **A Call for Awareness** Community members want change stricter enforcement, more awareness, and a renewed focus on safe driving. They hope that tragedies like this will serve as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence of any substance, including those consumed through a **vape pen**. As authorities continue the investigation, one thing is clear: the use of a **vape pen** while driving poses real risks. Educating young drivers about the dangers of impaired driving, especially when a **vape pen** is involved, may help prevent future tragedies.     [by Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBwbpnO1sfM) [Cannabis Laws](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/cannabis-laws) [Marijuana legalization](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/marijuana-legalization) ![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=200&height=200&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) #### [Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) At 420 Intel, we cover cannabis legalization news throughout the world, offer reliable information for cannabis business owners, detail technological advances that impact the marijuana industry, cover marijuana rallies from across the globe, and everything in between. - - - [Recreational Cannabis News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/recreational-cannabis-news) [![Marijuana Farms Break More Than State Laws](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AI-Generated%20Media/Images/The%20image%20depicts%20a%20sprawling%20illegal%20marijuana%20growing%20operation%20hidden%20within%20a%20dense%20forest%20in%20Lane%20County%20Oregon%20Towering%20green%20plants%20stretch%20towards%20the%20sky%20inside%20a%20makeshift%20greenhouse%20their%20leaves%20lush%20and%20vibrant%20under%20the%20filtered%20sunlight.jpeg?width=550&height=395&name=The%20image%20depicts%20a%20sprawling%20illegal%20marijuana%20growing%20operation%20hidden%20within%20a%20dense%20forest%20in%20Lane%20County%20Oregon%20Towering%20green%20plants%20stretch%20towards%20the%20sky%20inside%20a%20makeshift%20greenhouse%20their%20leaves%20lush%20and%20vibrant%20under%20the%20filtered%20sunlight.jpeg)](https://420intel.com/blog/illegal-marijuana-growing-operations-often-violate-more-than-just-states-cannabis-laws) - [![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=80&height=80&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) - 14 April 2025 #### [Marijuana Farms Break More Than State Laws](https://420intel.com/blog/illegal-marijuana-growing-operations-often-violate-more-than-just-states-cannabis-laws) LANE COUNTY, Ore. — An illegal marijuana growing operation in Lane County recently busted up by...
