Ron DeSantis [vetoed a bill](https://jaxtoday.org/2024/06/10/desantis-vetoes-bill-targeting-hemp-industry/) on the issue, lawmakers again are considering proposals aimed at imposing strict regulations on the sale and production of euphoria-inducing hemp products. This year’s legislation, however, also targets a new kind of buzz — beverages that include THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary psychoactive component in cannabis that’s responsible for getting users high. THC-infused beverages have mushroomed in popularity and can be sold in convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores. The drinks also are sold by retailers that specialize in hemp-derived products or can be purchased online. As the 2025 legislative session approaches the midpoint Wednesday, House and Senate proposals seeking to impose strict regulations on consumable hemp-based products also address THC-infused drinks. Such beverages were not included in a wide-ranging 2024 measure that hemp retailers and growers strenuously opposed and which the governor vetoed. This year’s Senate proposal ([SB 438](https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2025/438)) would require THC-infused beverages to be distributed by alcohol wholesalers and sold by retailers and establishments that have liquor licenses. The plan, which is ready for a full Senate vote, also would cap the amount of THC in the drinks, which typically are seltzer-like, flavored beverages that do not contain alcohol.   [by Jacksonville Today](https://jaxtoday.org/2025/04/01/thc-beverages-regulations-florida/)   [Cannabis Politics](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/cannabis-politics) [Recreational Cannabis News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/recreational-cannabis-news) ![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=200&height=200&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) #### [Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) At 420 Intel, we cover cannabis legalization news throughout the world, offer reliable information for cannabis business owners, detail technological advances that impact the marijuana industry, cover marijuana rallies from across the globe, and everything in between. - - - [Medical Cannabis News](https://420intel.com/blog/tag/medical-cannabis-news) [![Newsweek: PHI’s Dr. Meenakshi Subbaraman Discusses the Increased Demand of Cannabis-Infused Beverages and Health Risks](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AI-Generated%20Media/Images/The%20image%20features%20a%20vibrant%20bar%20scene%20with%20a%20modern%20aesthetic%2c%20showcasing%20a%20variety%20of%20colorful%20cannabisinfused%20cocktails%20elegantly%20displayed%20on%20the.jpeg?width=550&height=395&name=The%20image%20features%20a%20vibrant%20bar%20scene%20with%20a%20modern%20aesthetic%2c%20showcasing%20a%20variety%20of%20colorful%20cannabisinfused%20cocktails%20elegantly%20displayed%20on%20the.jpeg)](https://420intel.com/blog/newsweek-phis-dr.-meenakshi-subbaraman-discusses-the-increased-demand-of-cannabis-infused-beverages-and-health-risks) - [![Buzz](https://420intel.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png?width=80&height=80&name=Buzz-No%20Outline-2.png) Buzz](https://420intel.com/blog/author/buzz) - 20 February 2025 #### [Newsweek: PHI’s Dr. Meenakshi Subbaraman Discusses the Increased Demand of Cannabis-Infused Beverages and Health Risks](https://420intel.com/blog/newsweek-phis-dr.-meenakshi-subbaraman-discusses-the-increased-demand-of-cannabis-infused-beverages-and-health-risks) The consumption of cannabis cocktails—drinks infused with cannabis-derived compounds—is growing in...
