According to reports, ranks stationed at the Corkwood Police Checkpoint were carrying out standard inspections around 07:45 hrs when they intercepted a minibus traveling from Georgetown to Lethem. The gold miner, who was among the passengers, appeared nervous as officers initiated a search. Inside his haversack, officers discovered several plastic bags containing substances suspected to be narcotics.
When weighed in the gold miner’s presence, the substances totaled approximately 491.7 grams of cocaine and 1009.7 grams of cannabis.
