The internet is saying weed makes boys shorter, and other weird claims this week

Are you a boy? Do you smoke weed? Are you short? The Agriculture University Rawalpindi in Pakistan thinks you're short. They told me. Well, they didn't. But they are willing to bet you're nearly 5 inches shorter than boys who don't smoke weed.

That's right, short-stuff. This week's weed revelation circling the stoner-net is a study that suggests weed smoking boys are 4.6 inches shorter than their non-smoking counterpartsby the age of 20.

Should Seattle open a marijuana retailer in Pike Place Market?

If Seattle really wants to cripple the downtown marijuana black market, the city has to figure out a way to open a marijuana store either in Pike Place Market or very nearby. That’s where the tourists are; that’s who’s mostly buying off the streets in that area.

Uruguay Plans to Issue Marijuana Licenses in 2015, Official Says

Uruguay plans to issue commercial growing licenses this year to produce recreational marijuana for distribution through the country’s pharmacies, a senior government official said Tuesday.

“We are working on that,” Milton Romani, secretary-general of the National Drugs Board, told reporters Tuesday in Montevideo. “Assigning licenses to produce a complicated substance isn’t child’s play.”

New app hooks dagga smokers up with each other

The app is the first global platform of its kind allowing cannabis consumers to connect and unite to promote 'happiness'.

Cannabis users looking for someone to share a joint with have a new app that lets them find like-minded smokers around the world.

The creator of the "Who is Happy" app, a Brazilian epilepsy sufferer who wants the drug decriminalised, says his software is a kind of "Foursquare for stoners", comparing it to the app that allows users to rate restaurants and other places they visit.

"The app is the first global platform of its kind allowing cannabis consumers to connect and unite to promote happiness while de-stigmatising and hopefully decriminalising cannabis use around the world," Paulo Costa said.

Hoosiers crowdfund for marijuana access as neighbor states legalize

INDIANAPOLIS – Jennifer Perkins says she feels like she’s on a roller coaster – even while standing still.

Perkins suffers from tuberous sclerosis, a medical condition that’s left small, potato-shaped tumors all over her body, including her brain and kidneys.

Perkins, who shared copies of her medical records with I-Team 8, believes the tumors might be the source of her frequent dizzy spells and seizures.

Her husband, Aaron, posted videos of Jennifer to the online crowdfunding website GoFundMe. The videos, he says, show Jennifer having seizures in their Indianapolis home.

Arizona's second drive launched on recreational marijuana use

PHOENIX — A second group launched its own effort Tuesday to legalize marijuana for recreational use in Arizona, potentially putting both campaigns in jeopardy.

The new group, known as the Campaign to Legalize and Regulate Marijuana, filed paperwork Tuesday to start gathering signatures for a proposal to let adults use the drug for recreational use. Backers need 150,642 valid signatures by July 7, 2016, to qualify for the general election ballot that year.

The move comes exactly a month after the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol began its own petition drive to put a similar, but not exactly duplicate, initiative on the 2016 ballot. It also needs the same number of signatures.

And that’s where the first problem arises.

Let's legalize and tax marijuana to help pay for Michigan roads, schools, police

It's no secret that Michigan has a problem finding enough money to invest in critical priorities like roads, education and public safety. The costs of providing a good education to our kids, fixing our roads and providing even basic services to residents continue to climb.

Taxpayers have made it clear in the voting booth that they are skeptical about forking over more of their hard-earned money until they know the Legislature has asked corporations to pay their fair share and looked to alternative options to generate significant revenue. What we need are consistent, permanent revenue solutions that don't simply raise taxes on middle-class, working families.

Cannabis infused coffee is available in loose grounds and convenient single-serving pods. (Fairwinds Manufacturing)

Cannabis-infused coffee is now available in convenient single-use pods for those who want a little more buzz to their a.m. jolt.

Seattle-based Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop now sells pods of  premium Catapult coffee at a steep $10 per pod. Each pod works in standard, single-serve coffee makers and contain 10 mg of THC, marijuana’s psychoactive ingredient. The shop previously sold loose grounds infused with marijuana but the pods are “quickly becoming big sellers,” said the shop.

COLORADO CANNABIS CEO: MARIJUANA WILL EVENTUALLY BE TRADED LIKE ANY OTHER COMMODITY

Ryan Fox, founder and chief executive of Denver-based cannabis producer Kindman, says the legal marijuana industry is still evolving and that current cannabis shortages reflect the sector’s growing pains.

Here in Colorado we recently completed the second annual “420” celebrations since the legalization of recreational marijuana in early 2014. And for second straight year, cannabis dispensaries in Denver and elsewhere were crowded with happy consumers during the 420 weekend; people from all over the country and around the world, ready and willing to take part in the festivities.
