Kenya should legalize marijuana

Marijuana is commonly referred to as bhang, bangi, pot, ganja, vela or weed among other names depending on the unique strain. In the scientific domain it is known as Cannabis Sativa containing the compound delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that causes the “high” effect.

Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act of 1994, classifies the possession, sale, growing and distribution of marijuana illegal. This law is almost theoretical since it is rarely adhered to by patrons and by extension law enforcement officers who meet to the ready market of supply and demand.

Matt Fecteau: Rhode Island, Uruguay, and Weed

I am currently in Uruguay, and it is an interesting experience. Uruguay doesn’t get a lot of tourists. There are more cows than people. Not too much to see, but in 2013, Uruguay did something seemingly incredible: it legalized recreational marijuana.

Uruguay was the first country in the world to legalize pot.  Unlike countries such as the Netherlands which merely decriminalized marijuana, Uruguay went for full legalization. With the new law, in theory, criminals no longer have a monopoly on the recreational marijuana market.

Typically, when a pot smoking hears the word regulation or legalization of marijuana, they lite up a joint in honor of liberty and freedom. Well, don’t lite up just yet. There are many flavors of this ice cream.

The ban on legal highs: bleak news for Britain's headshops

Theresa May’s psychoactive substances bill has plunged the nation’s legal highs sellers into existential crisis. The legislation would ban all recreational drugs, while making individual exceptions for booze, tobacco, caffeine and so on, ending the lucrative legal cat-and-mouse game that has allowed high street shops and internet entrepreneurs to deal, legally, in new and untested drugs.
