Here's what to know about Colorado Springs' cannabis club scene

According to Studio A64 owner KC Stark, "Colorado Springs is the Silicon Valley of cannabis. Denver is the Hollywood — we're more technical, more conservative."

There's some truth to that. While Denver is testing the public-perception limits of Amendment 64 with weed-friendly events like movie screenings, concerts and tour buses, the Springs is exploring new business models.

Enter the cannabis clubs. Parents want somewhere to smoke where the wee 'uns won't wonder about the smell. Young renters want somewhere to hit the bong without violating the lease agreement. And tourists don't want to buy pipes only to ditch them in airport amnesty boxes. There is a need, and these clubs fill it.

Marijuana use among young Canadians high, but declining: StatsCan

TORONTO -- A new report from Statistics Canada suggests marijuana use may be down among teens and young adults.

The survey shows younger Canadians are still the biggest consumers of marijuana, with a third of 18- to 24-year-old respondents reporting they had used marijuana or hashish in the past year.

But the percentage of people between the ages of 15 and 24 who reported having ever used marijuana dropped between 2002 and 2012.

And the percentage of 15- to 17-year-olds who reported having used marijuana in the previous 12 months declined when 2012 responses were compared to those of the 2002 survey.

The report is based on data collected during the 2012 Canadian Community Health Survey on mental health.

The marijuana industry's battle against the IRS

Millions of Americans rushed to finish their taxes in the hours just before the midnight deadline Wednesday. But for business-owners in the cannabis industry, a years-long tax battle is far from over.

Supporters of legal marijuana cited tax revenue as big factor in pushing through laws that have allowed medical marijuana sales in 23 states and recreational pot in four. But the businesses that grow and sell marijuana in those states are also staring at a steep federal tax bill, especially when compared with businesses in other industries.

WHY LEGALISING HASH COULD SAVE EGYPT

As the debate of whether or not hashish should be legalised in Egypt reaches prominence in public discourse, we take a look at the pros of legitimising an indulgence many Egyptians already partake in.

On Sunday we shared the information that Osama Salama, head of the Cairo and Giza Tobacco Traders Association, called for the legalisation of hashish in order to help Egypt’s economy. Instantly the call was met with thousands of supporters, and the likes on the article we published has reached over 29,000, who we assume are people that agree.

Three FAQ About Cannabidiol (CBD)

If you have been paying attention to the political showdown, you should have noticed that marijuana is polling better than candidates for the 2016 election. In a recent article published in The Washington Post, “more than 80 percent of adults in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida support medical marijuana.”

The recent change in the perception of marijuana, in the eyes of the masses, is the result of the growing awareness of the medicinal benefits of products with high CBD levels.

What does “CBD” mean?

San Franscisco: Marijuana startups battle for customers in run-up to high holiday

In a state that allows only card-carrying medical patients to use marijuana, the weed-smoker’s holiday of April 20 — or 420 — might be the nascent marijuana industry’s Black Friday: one day of the year where potential customers are out in full force.

Several San Francisco startups that offer on-demand delivery of marijuana will be promoting their brands to the thousands of “420-friendly” people who turn out to celebrate Monday at places like Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park.

If advocates can persuade California voters to approve the recreational use of marijuana in 2016, the customer base for all sorts of weed-related services will widen. And companies’ early pitches could help determine which startup scrambles to the top of the weed industry heap.
