Nevada Marijuana Bill Would Allow Owners To Use The Weed For Sick Pets

A new Nevada bill introduced on Tuesday could allow pets to use pot. The proposal is part of a larger bill that would overhaul the state’s medical marijuana law, remove penalties for drivers who test positive for the drug, and require more stringent training for marijuana vendors.

Senator Tick Segerblom, D-Nev., is sponsoring a bill that would allow animal owners to acquire marijuana with the certification of a veterinarian if the animal’s pain could be alleviated by the drug, the Associated Press reported. Segerblom admitted that the drugs may have adverse effects on the animals, but said, “You don't know until you try."

A release from Simpson’s office called the proposal a first in the nation. The statement read:

Up in Smoke! Judge Could Rule US Marijuana Ban Unconstitutional

The California courts will soon be hearing a case that could turn current federal law against marijuana on its head.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of California in Sacramento will hear on March 25 a case involving nine persons accused of growing marijuana in the state’s Shasta-Trinity National Forest in northern California. Their attorneys argue that current federal law governing marijuana is wrong because the federal government places weed the same as heroin and other hard drugs under a Drug Enforcement Administration classification that states those drugs “(has) no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.”

A local government in Wash. state tries to corner the marijuana market

NORTH BONNEVILLE, Wash. — Deep in the Columbia River Gorge, a short drive from the Bridge of the Gods, the nation’s only government-run marijuana shop was running low on weed.

The store had been open for just a few days. Inside, manager Robyn Legun was frantically trying to restock. Outside, five customers stood waiting for the doors to open. Someone cracked a joke about this being a typical government operation, always running late.

Nosh Pit: Interest in cannabis cuisine reaches new high

Marijuana. It’s what’s for dinner.

It could come in the form of “pot” roast or a “rasta pasta” with cannabis-infused pesto. Or for those feeling a little too lazy to cook, a pre-made, pot-laced pizza can be baked in the time it takes to hear the first three songs on Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”

Ruling clears way for marijuana convictions to be erased

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Thousands of people busted in Connecticut for marijuana possession now have the right to get their convictions erased after the state Supreme Court ruled Monday that the violation had been downgraded to the same legal level as a parking ticket.

The 7-0 ruling came in the case of former Manchester and Bolton resident Nicholas Menditto, who had asked for his convictions to be overturned after the Legislature decriminalized possession of small amounts of pot in 2011.

"It's a topic multiple states will have to be facing," said Aaron Romano, Menditto's attorney. "Because marijuana is being decriminalized across the United States, this issue needs to be addressed."
