Hawaii Could Have Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Next Year

Hawaii could have medical marijuana dispensaries much sooner than initially anticipated — perhaps as soon as next year.

On Wednesday, the Senate Health and Public Safety committees passed House Bill 321, the bill that would create medical marijuana dispensaries and production centers in each Hawaii county.

But first, lawmakers amended the bill to allow dispensaries to begin operating next year. Sen. Josh Green, who chairs Health Committee, wants potential dispensary owners to be able to grow and prepare their product starting this fall.

HUNGARIAN SCIENTISTS PROVE DEVASTATING EFFECT CANNABIS USE HAS ON THE BRAIN

Smoking cannabis dramatically reduces the number of molecules ensuring the fine-tuning of brain functions and can significantly interfere in the two-way communication between neurons, according to the result of research spanning several years carried out by the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (KOKI), published in the world’s most highly acclaimed neuroscience journal, Nature Neuroscience.

A statement issued by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences reminds that a study arriving at the same conclusion, authored by Hungarian neuroscientists István Katona and Tamás Freund, deputy chairman of the Academy (MTA) and head of the Institute of Experimental Medicine), had already been published in the U. S. Journal of Neuroscience in 1999.

A Review of Some Funny & Clever Marijuana Commercials

We now live in a time where marijuana can actually be advertised on broadcast television. Here is a review of some of the most clever and funny marijuana commercials we've come across over the past year. Enjoy!

As is almost always the best case scenario for a product that people might be uncomfortable thinking about, the company MarijuanaDoctors.com uses an admittedly silly analogy to get their point across. Sure, you can get weed from a mustachioed guy in a back alley if that’s your thing, but know that there’s also a legitimate place to find it where the consumer/patient has a say in the matter.

OSC probing marijuana firm CEN Biotech

CEN Biotech, a company that soared to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars last year on claims that it was being licensed to build the world’s largest medical marijuana facility in Canada, is under investigation by the Ontario Securities Commission.

The regulator said Wednesday it is looking into the company and its parent firm, but did not provide further details, such as how long the investigation has been going on or if regulators in the United States are involved.

“The OSC has an active investigation into this matter,” Carolyn Shaw-Rimmington, spokeswoman for the OSC, said in an e-mail to The Globe and Mail.

Lessons from Marijuana Legalization Around the Globe

In the blink of an eye, global debates about cannabis regulation have shifted from “whether” to “how.” In 2014, Uruguay became the first nation to explicitly regulate cannabis from seed to sale. Its preferred strategy? State-regulated production, cannabis clubs, and personal growing. Meanwhile, four U.S. states and the District of Columbia have moved ahead with legal regulation, Colorado and Washington being the first, and the federal government seems unlikely to intervene. More states, possibly even California, look set to follow. Likewise, in the rest of the world, there are a number of gray-area regulatory systems, including in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain. All offer insights into how the United States—and other countries—might tackle the “how.”

Marijuana Legalization Bill In Louisiana Would Give Voters A Say In Legalizing Recreational Pot In ...

A Louisiana lawmaker wants voters to decide whether the personal use of marijuana should be legal in their state, and he thinks their collective response could be a resounding yes. Rep. Dalton Honore, a Democrat representing Baton Rouge, filed a bill in the House last week that would legalize recreational pot use in Louisiana for adults 21 or older, according to KATC TV-3. It would also set up a system for cannabis to be grown, dispensed and taxed. The measure would go on the ballot next year.

"If I can get it to the people, it will pass with flying colors,” Honore told the Times-Picayune.

Patients: Medical marijuana not foothold for recreation

AUSTIN -- Medical marijuana advocates are stepping up the pressure on lawmakers this week.

The 84th Texas Legislature has seen an unprecedented number of marijuana-related bills, leading advocates for medical marijuana to draw distinctions between bills that would support medicinal use versus those that would affect recreational use. For that purpose, dozens of patients and medical marijuana advocates gathered at the Texas Capitol on Wednesday to highlight their cause.

California: Nestdrop Medical Marijuana Delivery Service Launches GoFundMe Campaign

To help pay for its upcoming legal battle with the City of Los Angeles, medical marijuana delivery service Nestdrop has launched a GoFundMe campaign to seek donations from medicinal cannabis patients, fellow tech companies, dispensaries and supporters across the country.

After sending a letter to the City Attorney’s office offering to work with them on sensible medical marijuana enforcement -- which went unanswered -- Nestdrop has moved forward with appealing the injunction.

Philly420: From Deleware to Detroit, Plans Differ for Medical Marijuana

Advocates for medical marijuana are quick to point out that 23 states have passed some sort of therapeutic cannabis law. All of them are different. They range from the broadly worded (California) to severely restrictive (New Jersey). The truth is that only a handful of these states actually offer programs that serve a majority of patients.

Robust programs are running in Maine, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and California. These states offer the widest array of access from home cultivation, collective gardens and professional dispensaries. The rest of the country struggles to compete for a similar level of compassion.

Medical Marijuana Update: MMJ phase II begins as C.NSP, C.SUN enter edibles space

The stock is a daytrade superstar, but also consistently moving up in price as speculators who see the potential for a big payday when the American listing hits (reportedly within four weeks) load up, and long holders who feel the edibles market is a big undeveloped MMJ play join in.

Nutritional High, right now anyway, is the perfect storm.

Will it deliver big revenues in two years? Don’t know. And, frankly, right now I don’t care. What I care about a lot is, is the thing likely to be higher tomorrow than it is today? And will it ramp up for the next month while it’s still a private Canadian investor club?
