Vienna - One of the largest producers in Austria ornamental plants decided last year to produce cannabis plants. The business model is envisaged to raise cuttings for sale before reaching the inflorescence - until then the plant to develop the intoxicating cannabinoid THC, the production, acquisition and possession is punishable in Austria.

Cypress Hill's B Real Talks Opening His Medical-Marijuana Dispensary

Cypress Hill's B Real (whose real name is Louis Freese) has fame and money, but he still needed a lot of luck for his next business venture outside of music: a medical marijuana dispensary in Southern California's Orange County.

The musician-actor-TV entrepreneur was one of six out of 630 applicants to win the right to open a dispensary in the O.C. It comes at a perfect time as he focuses on his Dr. Greenthumb world. The rapper recently took third prize for Best Sativa Flower in the Cannabis Cup in San Bernardino, Calif., and will be releasing The Prescription, a Dr. Greenthumb mixtape, featuring longtime friend Snoop Dogg,A$AP Ferg, AB-Soul and many more this week.

Vermont could be first state to legalize marijuana via legislation

A bill introduced on Tuesday in Vermont could end the prohibition of marijuana by legalizing its possession, use and sale in the state for people aged 21 and over. It would be the first in America to do so by law rather than through the ballot box.

Under Senate Bill 950, adult residents could possess up to one ounce of marijuana and grow up to nine plants (two mature, seven immature) for personal use. Cultivation would be limited to secure indoor facilities; there would be no smoking in public and non-residents could purchase up to one-quarter of an ounce from a licensed retail shop.

Proceed With Caution: A Warning to Tribes Wanting to Grow Medical Marijuana

California’s Pinoleville Pomo Nation is poised to become the first American Indian tribe to grow medical marijuana, though investors claim at least 100 additional tribes are exploring their options.

Pinoleville is expected to break ground on a copy0 million, 100,000-square-foot greenhouse within 60 days, said Barry Brautman, president of FoxBarry Companies, a group of Kansas-based operations that specialize in developing Native business enterprises.

Uruguay marijuana licences lure world bidders

South American country plans to issue as many as five permits to grow cannabis

MONTEVIDEO ‚ÄĒ Canadian medical-marijuana producer Tilray and the founder of a German cannabis products retailer are among 11 investors bidding for a foothold in a formerly illegal industry in Uruguay: marijuana farms.

Once the government issues the licences, pot could reach pharmacies in three to four months, said Alfredo Dupetit, a partner in Montevideo, Uruguay-based bidder Lucus SRL.

Pharmacies will then be able to sell as much as 40 grams (0.1 pound) of pot a month, enough for about 60 joints, to registered users, the government has said.

Mississippi Joins the Growing List of States Legalizing Crowdfunding

Russia's Anti-Drugs Body Set for Chop Amid Narcotics Epidemic | News

The Russian government is likely to disband the Federal Drug Control Service, according to an official document obtained by The Moscow Times.

The document, signed on Feb. 10 by Larisa Brychyova, head of the legal directorate of the presidential administration, cites an order by President Vladimir Putin to dissolve the agency from March 1.

The agency's functions will be redistributed among the Interior and Health ministries, according to the document.

Business daily Vedomosti reported Monday that the agency is being liquidated due to budget considerations.
