A Former NFL Player Says The NFL Should Allow Marijuana Use As A Painkiller

Imagine for a second, the pain an NFL player feels after a brutal Sunday afternoon game. A game in which men weighing in upwards of 300 pounds crash into each other at high speeds. Then, imagine the amount of painkillers those same players must take just to get out of bed the next day.

At a recent conference, former Broncos tight end Nate Jackson talked about his use of marijuana as a painkiller during his six-year NFL career.

“It kept my brain clean,” Jackson said Wednesday during the Cannabis Business Executives Breakfast that kicked off a three-day conference titled “Sports, Meds and Money.”

Many of these startups have Silicon Valley veterans at the helm. In the case of the marijuana industry, although it may still be in its infancy, the potential for growth in this sector has many investors sitting up and taking notice. Among the primary factors now attracting investors to this still fledgling industry is that there is still ample room for innovation.

Why Hemp Is A Cash Crop Just Waiting To Happen. Again.

Hemp is a plant that has been cultivated in parts of the world for 10-12,000 years – possibly longer – and is estimated to have between 25,000 to 50,000 uses, with 5,000 uses in the textiles industry alone. Hemp has had a bad rap in the United States, supposedly thanks to the protectionist policies of a powerful few people in government and industry who had investments in key industries including pulp and paper. Hemp was lumped together marijuana usage, and used to pass the Marijuana Tax Act, partially by misinforming Congress and leveraging racial politics of the 1930s.

CannLabs' StrainData Positions It To Be The Most Powerful Player In The Space

  • CANL's StrainData platform furthers the narrative that CANL is so much more than an analytics company.
  • CANL is now positioned to force at least some participation with it on the testing side with what should be quickly growing StrainData key metrics.
  • Acting as the "Google" of its space with StrainData CANL now has a completely vertical operation - something that historically has meant huge power across industries.
  • I continue to be bullish CANL on all durations.

CannLabs Inc.'s (OTCQB:CANL) StrainData platform is yet another reason to be bullish this under the radar company.

News of Surna Exec’s Departure Triggers Stock Slide

Shares of Surna Inc. have dipped since the company announced that its high-profile CEO Tom Bollich will step down, continuing a longer stock slide that began a year ago.

The cannabis cultivation technology firm said last week that Bollich will depart April 14 as the company moves from a startup to a more mature operation.

Bollich co-founded the online gaming company Zynga, which created the hugely popular FarmVille series, before eventually joining Surna in March 2014.

His arrival helped send Surna’s stock soaring from around $2 to more than $7 in a matter of days, as investors welcomed the news of a mainstream, proven business veteran leading the company.

PharmaCann gets latest Illinois license to grow medical marijuana

Ilinois regulators Monday awarded a medical marijuana growing license to PharmaCann LLC, to replace a firm that gave up its license in the northwestern part of the state.

The approval means that PharmaCann, based in Oak Park, has won approval for two grow centers and four dispensaries statewide, more than any other business in the state.

Green Thumb Industries LLC gave up its license to grow marijuana in Dixon last week after it didn't come up with the required $2 million surety bond or escrow account and the $200,000 permit fee. Local officials said Green Thumb, which also has licenses to operate two other grow centers, expressed concerns about the cost of the license while only about 1,000 patients have been approved to get medical marijuana.
