Medicinal cannabis puts lawyers at nexus of science and law

Cutting-edge medical research often calls for support from science-literate lawyers, no more so than in the legalisation of contentious drugs, such as medicinal marijuana, says Dr Teresa Nicoletti.

Dr Nicoletti (pictured) is a partner at Piper Alderman who is currently advising players in the emerging medicinal cannabis industry in Australia.

Cannabis smokers in California can soon pay for pot using Bitcoin and get it delivered by drone

A start-up is awaiting regulatory approval in California to take pot smoking to the next level. Trees delivery has put together a service that allows smokers to order marijuana it their laptop without speaking to anyone, pay for it with Bitcoin and receive it by drone.

Trees, which is based in San Francisco, says smokers can order weed online on their phone or computer and get it delivered immediately during the day, seven days a week, during working hours.

The weed comes in three boxes: the bud box, which includes exotic and hard to find strains, the extract box, which contains hash, and a beginner box. The boxes also contain accessories such as paper and filter tips, grinders, lighters and rolling papers.
