Why the Biotech Market is Looking to Cannabis for the Future

It’s possible that there has been no greater contributor to the cultural shift currently occurring around cannabis use in North America than the growing understanding of its medical applications.

Marijuana has long carried an unfair stigma resulting from fear and hysteria rather than an inherent danger derived from its effects. For many, it was plain to see that marijuana’s classification as a Schedule I drug didn’t really make much sense. However, as long as the argument for rescheduling centered on laxer laws for recreational use, gathering the sort of political and cultural consensus necessary for real change was an all-but impossible challenge.

Researcher found a new way to change the flavor of cannabis

Trying out some of the 2015 Michigan Cannabis Cup entries gave us all a taste of how flavorful this wonderful plant can be on its very own. Strains like Strawberry Banana, Zkittlez, Tangie and Orange Cookies show just how versatile this plant can be for breeders who seek flavor, but if that wasn’t enough, recent developments have taught us a new way of flavoring cannabis in the most naturally unnatural way possible.

This Canadian Company Now Makes Marijuana-Infused Coffee Pods For Keurig

There may soon be a new use for your Keurig coffee maker — brewing pot.

Like other pods on the market, the CANNCUP will contain your choice of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. But these capsules will have a little extra something — dried cannabis.

Pop one in your single serve coffee machine and it will brew up a hot drink spiked with "a standardized dose of medical marijuana," explains CannTrust CEO Eric Paul.

Clinical study at CAMH tests how cannabis affects volunteers’ driving skills

There are two kinds of buzzed people who take the wheel of his simulated Chevy in the basement of a CAMH building, Dr. Robert Mann observes: those who drive cautiously and those who let ’er rip.

The scientist with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health points to the flat-screen TVs that serve as the “windshield” for the extracted cab of a Chevrolet compact — complete with steering wheel, dashboard, gear shift and pedals — and explains the clinical study he’s been working on since 2013.

CannLabs closes Colorado testing facility, lays off workers

Colorado marijuana testing facility CannLabs closed its Denver laboratory on Tuesday and laid off as many as 15 employees.

The shutdown of one of the largest labs in Colorado, and one considered an industry leader, comes after months of controversy involving the company’s leadership.

“It’s positive for us,” CannLabs Inc. CEO Mark Mirken told The Denver Post on Tuesday, “There were a significant amount of issues surrounding our involvement with CannLabs Colorado, items that were made public by certain people within that company that were factually incorrect and clearly became an impediment to our ability to work with them under the administrative services agreement.”
