New Buffalo Township Puts Pause on Marijuana Dispensary Considerations Amid Surge in License Applications.
New Buffalo Township is putting a pause on considering more marijuana dispensaries... after already getting 35 license applications.
Currently, only two dispensaries are open in the township.
If all 35 are approved that would be more than in Detroit.
Although they would create a big tax revenue stream township officials say the community is concerned about the number of applications.
"I'd say everyone that spoke tonight other than maybe one person was a local person. And the impact on them is what really what helped make our decision," said Michelle Heit, New Buffalo Township Supervisor.
New applications, even if they're partially complete, need to be submitted by Monday.
