Ahead of legalization, police warn motorists of risks of Cannabis-impaired driving

Baltimore County Police Department Advises Motorists to Understand Limits and Risks of Cannabis-Impaired Driving Ahead of Maryland's Legalization.

TOWSON - In preparation for the legalization of cannabis in Maryland on July 1, 2023, the Baltimore County Police Department is reminding area motorists to know their limits and be aware of the risks associated with cannabis-impaired driving.

Cannabis and marijuana consumption can impair driving, negatively impacting reaction time, motor coordination, and attention.

Duration of cannabis intoxication/impairment can vary widely and is dependent upon several factors, such as method of consumption, individual metabolism, other food, and drink consumed, etc.

According to the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, recent guidelines recommend waiting at least six hours after consuming cannabis to drive.
