Recreational Marijuana stirs concerns in Maryland
The framework which will govern the dispensary of Maryland's recreational marijuana appears to be in place.
Before the legislative session ended, lawmakers approved a measure that taxes recreational marijuana 9% and is expected to generate 67 million dollars for the state over the next four years.
However, it's also expected to bring other problems to the state.
Many of the 20 other states which have also approved recreational marijuana are seeing robberies at dispensaries soar as the illegal underground market still attempts to compete.
In Colorado, researchers found traffic deaths soared by 15% the year after that state approved marijuana use.
"You'll have people driving a car, walking down the street, eating gummies and they'll be impaired," said Mike Gimbel, former drug czar of Baltimore County.
"It's a big mistake," said Gimbel, "and they did it for one reason, to make money."
