Painful trips to the dentist could soon be a thing of the past thanks to a new line of cannabis-infused toothpaste.

Dr. Veronica Stahl, a dentist and the cofounder of Cannabite LifeLong, told the Daily Star that the drug holds the potential to treat a wide range of dental issues. Cannabis is antibacterial and capable of fighting plaque, she said, making it a perfect ingredient for toothpaste.

“Our solutions, built on emerging medical research, rely on the natural extracts of the plant with healing properties and the human body’s endocannabinoid system,” she said. “It’s very exciting.”

The stigma surrounding cannabis often deters patients from inquiring about new treatment options, Stahl said, explaining that the Cannabite toothpaste is infused with CBD and CBG — not THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis that makes you high.

“We don’t use THC,” she said “It’s absolutely not recreational. It’s not just mixing cannabis into a toothpaste.”

Stahl said she is hopeful that further research will lead to breakthroughs in the dental field that might even make painful procedures such as root canals obsolete. “We want to bring about a revolution in this field because we could maintain and cure the nerve,” she said.

She expects the toothpaste and a range of other dental products from the Belgium-based company to come to markets soon.
