Trump Tuesday: Donald Trump didn't hear Laurel or Yanny in hilarious White House video

The White House’s social media team released a short video with several staffers and members of the administration weighing in on what they heard in the viral audio clip — Laurel or Yanny. Senior adviser Ivanka Trump opens the video and Vice President Mike Pence gave his response.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and White House press secretary Sarah Sanders poked fun at the way they are portrayed in the media. Conway, who’s often criticized for shifting focus away from important issues, said, “It’s Laurel. But I could deflect and divert to Yanny if you need me to.”

Sanders set up a mock press conference, where someone off camera asked, “It’s been reported that you hear ‘Laurel,’ how do you respond?”  Her answer referenced her media criticism head on. “Clearly you’re getting your information from CNN, cause that’s fake news. All I hear is ‘Yanny.’”

Trump himself appears in a recent cameo. Instead of hearing Laurel or Yanny, however, the president rehashed his now infamous Twitter blunder: “I hear covfefe,” he said.

The video reached nearly 10 million views over several social media platforms, and not surprisingly, reactions were mixed. Some found the clip funny, while others used it as an excuse to criticize the Trump administration.

Several people wondered how the Trump administration found the time to create a humorous video while so many pressing issues need attention. But some Twitter users countered that former President Barack Obama often released social media clips during his tenure. Seems that comedy is in the eye of the beholder!
