Police busy at Prague cannabis festival

Arrests, fines and confiscations reported at annual trade fair 

The sixth cannabis festival Cannafest took place over the weekend of Nov. 6–7 at the Holešovice fairgrounds. The festival, which focuses on promoting further legalization of marijuana, medical marijuana, legal production of cannabis and sale of hemp products, is the largest of its type in Europe.

 

 

But not everyone got the message on the legal part. Police responsible for the district reported that they were “certainly not idle” during the weekend. They checked 620 people and 107 vehicles. Some 33 people were taken in to the station on suspicion of violating drug laws, mostly misdemeanor possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances and poisons, unauthorized production and other handling of narcotic and psychotropic substances and poisons, or posing a threat while under the influence of drugs....
